Today the IGDA Board of Directors posted a blog update about the IGDA and SOPA/PIPA. You can read it here: http://igdaboard.wordpress.com/2012/01/20/the-igda-opposes-sopa-and-pipa/
I am very pleased to see that the IGDA came out to oppose SOPA and PIPA, although I’m somewhat concerned that the statement came only after the bills were temporarily shelved.
The organization did a great job with its quick warnings regarding the Amazon Appstore. The actions they took then helped earn a lot of goodwill for the IGDA – so I believe it’s important to replicate that kind of swift action and intelligent foresight with regularity in the future.
We should lead the charge on industry issues such as these. Finding a way to consistently respond to these issues thoughtfully and promptly is something I want to help prioritize.
